Black Coyote Pelt by FossilFeather Black Coyote Pelt by FossilFeather
My beautiful new black coyote girl. She's from West Virginia and is a rare melanistic color mutation of a normal coyote.

Coyote pelt from taxidermy.net
Alpaca pelt from a seller on eBay who bought it in Lima, Peru

Don't worry sweetheart, the men in white coats will come and take you back home soon. Just sit down, drink your juice, take a deep breath, and you'll be back in your nice comfy cell before you know it.

If I take a photo of one of my drawings, I don't put it under photography. Neither would I do so if I took a picture of a taxidermized coyote.

Yeah but if you take a picture of a pelt in a tree it is photography

That would depend on the context of the photo. But I can't see any reason why you would take a picture of a dead animal in a tree.

you uglyminded cocksuckers are talking about an animal, with a spirit, who was shot and killed by some nasty freak. you should all be shot.

lol at the cocksuckers thing.
Actually, population controll takes these alot, they NEED to be shot. Otherwise they can get sicknesses easier and wont be able to find food as easy and then die a slow and painful death and rot in the ground with maggots crawling out of their eye sockets. if that's your definition of a good clean death, than good luck to you.

Not a taxidermy person, but that is interesting, and it looks well-preserved. I do wonder what the likelyhood of a coyote being melanistic is.

You do know poaching is the hunting of ENDANGERED animals, right? I fail to see how buying or legally hunting one of the most overpopulated species on earth encourages people to illegally hunt.

He's not all too informed on laws. ;) Poaching is also hunting legal animals out of season. He blames me of having endangered animals and poaching/murder, but yet I don't own a single thing past CITES II. XD All I have from there is lynx, Geoffrey's cat, and wolf.

I'm very sympathetic for her death. But, I said sympathetic, not empathetic. She looked past her prime, anyway. Anyway, good catch.

Oh, so living nearly your full lifespan and getting a bullet in the skull, flatlining before you even have time to notice is worse than overpopulating, depleting your ecosystem of all resources, (You must not care about all the other little cuddly animals coyote and wolf prey on.) getting into fights over what little prey is left, eventually turning to cannibalism and another coyote/wolf tearing you to shreds. :stare:

I believe she had mites or even slight mange since her skin had some issues and there were some patches on her ears that had the fur missing.

Really, it wasn't. Black coyotes are growing in population as they interbreed with wolves and dogs. I have two black coyote skins myself, both younger than this one ;) Oh, and the chest and back fur of a third. So really, no, they're not all that rare.

Oh, and nice going, I see you're racist too.

lol, at first glance I thought it was a dog sleeping on a pelt rug.
I've gotta say, even though I'm against this sort of thing, it does look sort of nice. Would make a decent coat, too. And it's not a wolf pelt! Yay! ..........your pelt collection IS wolf-less, right?

I'm just not entirely sure why some people think dead coyotes are cool but dead wolves are a sin against nature.

Kinda like this guy I used to know, he thought it was worthy of torture to think of harming a wolf, and yet he quite happily butchered horses to feed the wolves. Really? :hmm:
